About the role
Sygnature Discovery is seeking an experienced Lead Scientist to join our In Vivo Pharmacology group. The In Vivo Pharmacology group currently consists of >30 highly trained staff. The group delivers high quality pharmacology studies in the areas of CNS, Metabolic (obesity, diabetes), Inflammation and DMPK.
Sygnature Discovery is a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) with laboratories in the UK and North America with a track record for delivering high quality data to a growing number of clients working in the drug discovery space from early target discovery efforts to IND enabling studies. In the In Vivo Pharmacology Group our workdays can be quite dynamic with rapid changes, which means flexibility and supporting and assisting team members is essential.
Your tasks as a Lead Scientist within the Technical team will be varied and will involve daily operational work conducting in vivo studies and managing/mentoring other team members.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Delivering high quality data and supporting documentation through performance of In Vivo studies (dosing, sampling, tissue collection)
- Experience of surgical procedures (e.g. vessel cannulations)
- Acting as a mentor, coach, and role model for other research scientists, providing experimental guidance and support as appropriate.
Key requirements:
- Ideally, a relevant education such as BSc in pharmacology, biology or Higher IAT Qualification.
- Thorough understanding of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
- Extensive experience in an In-Vivo work-related background.
- Home Office Personal Licence PIL A, B & C.
- The proven ability and desire to carry out in vivo work (e.g. administration of substances, behavioural experience, surgery experience)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational, interpersonal and time management skills, the ability to problem solve, and work both independently and collaboratively with the team
- Self-motivated, well organised, able to prioritise tasks, delegate tasks and work to deadline pressure
- Ability to execute projects to tight timelines with the ability to adapt to rapid changes in project priorities
