We are looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our highly collaborative and motivated design team and specifically own and drive the evolution of our Data & Insights products. You will partner closely with the Product Management and Engineering leaders and play a key role in defining and shaping a holistic experience across Instructure’s product ecosystem. You will also contribute to the evolution of our design team as well as mentor other designers.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead a design pod that focuses on a specific problem space within our ecosystem
  • Mentor designers within that pod, providing feedback on their work as well as professional growth coaching
  • Own the ongoing evolution, advocacy, implementation, and management of the Data & Insights products
  • Partner closely with your fellow design pod leaders to establish operational structures and best practices across our entire design team
  • Partner closely with product managers and developers to solve complex problems and ensure the highest quality solutions
  • Be an advocate for A11y best practices
  • Work with a rapid, iterative mindset, being open and flexible to changes based on user feedback
  • Engage in user research activities with our customers and users
  • Build prototypes for user testing

You will be/have:

  • At least 5 years of experience designing for digital products
  • A portfolio representing your strong design work (visual as UX) on complex digital products
  • Previous experience mentoring or managing other team members
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong work ethic, sense of accountability and ownership
  • Strong attention to detail and a systematic thinker
  • Highly self-motivated, with a passion for data visualization
  • Deep knowledge and experience designing for A11y best practices
  • Great team player who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
  • Biased to action, with the ability to iterate rapidly
  • Prototyping experience (Figma a bonus)
  • Experience with responsive web design
  • Previous experience in the EdTech space strongly preferred
