Lead Lab Technician

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Lead Lab Technician to lead our technician team in the Material Lab. In this role, you will demonstrate skills in technical testing abilities, project management and communication as you conduct sample testing, execute machine test protocols, coordinate lab tasks and interact with engineering and development teams. Experience with working in a continuous improvement environment and across a global team is critical to success. Delivering to timeline with a high level of quality is essential.

What You’ll Do

· Autonomously perform technical work to support engineers developing materials and machines for use by Cricut’s customers

· Utilize mechanical and analytical test equipment – tensile test machine, XRF, FTIR, DSC, Microscope, Xenon chamber, environmental chamber, etc.

· Manage incoming lab requests through ticketing system, assign tasks to the lab team and ensure quick and accurate turnaround of results.

· Provide training on equipment and procedures to new lab technicians.

· Optimize lab setup, sample management process and lab activities to improve test turnaround and lab efficiency.

· Maintain a clean, safe working environment using 5S principles.

· Document and record data and test results in PLM system.

· Communicate test results to engineering and development stakeholders.

· Develop and implement equipment calibration and maintenance schedules.

· Bring new ideas to increase productivity, eliminate waste and improve product quality.

· High School Degree or equivalent

· College or post-high school training with an emphasis in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) preferred.

· At least 5 years of experience in a test laboratory

· Experience leading a team of technicians in a laboratory setting

· Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Strong project management and organizational skills

· Strong data organization and data analysis skills

· Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with small teams

· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude strongly preferred

· Experience working in Six Sigma environment preferred
