We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cloud Architect with a strong background in Azure and Cloud Security to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the effective management of a variety of business systems in the corporate areas that reach across Protective. The Lead Architect will work closely with business groups to review system requirements and determine appropriate solutions. Lead architect in this position will work to implement the selected solution(s) by using appropriate integration architecture, performing software installation, coding, testing, and project management skills. The position will be required to maintain and support these various software systems. This job will also include working closely with business analysts and customers to gather requirements in order to ensure the customer’s business needs and expectations are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. Problem solving to de-bug software problems and to find integration connection issues will be a part of this job as well.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect and Design: Lead the architecture and design of hybrid cloud-based solutions on Azure Cloud including On-Premises setup. Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of the solution. Design, code, test and implement software solutions.
Security Implementation: Implement robust security measures for various Web and Windows based applications integrating with Azure SQL Server, and Web APIs (cloud as well as on-premises based). Ensure secure access and data protection for various actors with different roles and permissions.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver secure and efficient solutions. Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with all business groups that this position supports
Best Practices: Establish and promote best practices for cloud architecture, security, and data management. Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in cloud computing and security. Effectively analyze and resolve any systems issues in a timely manner.
Performance Optimization: Optimize the performance of cloud-based systems, ensuring high availability and responsiveness. Conduct regular performance reviews and implement necessary improvements.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data security and privacy. Implement necessary controls and audits to maintain compliance. Compile and maintain system documentation as needed.
Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and developers. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. Complete all assignments using the Protective standard ITIL change procedures
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong focus on Azure.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing secure cloud solutions. Demonstrates a thorough, detailed working knowledge of relevant technologies.
- Must be flexible and able to manage multiple systems, changing priorities, resolve conflicts and be able to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrates leadership and initiative to accept new challenges.
- Requires oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate clearly with peers and customers and provide the documentation needed in working on projects.
- Must be self- motivated, able to work independently and willing to self-teach and take responsibility for ongoing professional development.
- Requires programming skills sufficient to solve difficult and complex technical problems.
- Experience working with cloud/on-prem and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
- Computer Skills – Ability to understand complex system applications and have experience in all aspects of the software development process.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Azure SQL Server and web API security.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM) in Azure.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing role-based access control (RBAC) and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Knowledge of encryption techniques and secure data storage.
- Must know Azure SQL Server and .NET Core/Framework
- Exposure to IBMi/DB2 databases is a plus
- Any exposure to RPG/COBOL code is an added bonus
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $105,500 to $150,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance] OR [through cash compensation as part of a sales incentive plan (SIP).
