The opportunity 

Magic Leap’s Engineering Services roles are comprised of engineers responsible for coordinating requirements across all of our AR products, programs, and customers.  Engineers in the Engineering Services organization collaborate across all Product Development & Engineering functions. They are responsible for research, design, development, quality assurance, reliability, and testing engineering duties across all the Product Development and Engineering sub-families.

As a Lead Factory Test Engineering Technician within our Factory Test and Calibration Organization, you’ll serve as the first line of contact for factory floor support activities, addressing technical issues with test and calibration systems, providing prototype build support, and driving ongoing process validation. You’ll also assist our engineering team with advanced test system initiatives, including proofs-of-concept, test station assembly, deployment, and certification.

This role will be required to be onsite in our headquarters located in Plantation, FL. Relocation assistance may be available.

What you’ll do 

  • Support daily factory operations, prototype builds, and experimental test events on-site.
  • Assist development engineering efforts with test systems and processes.
  • Assemble, troubleshoot, deploy, and maintain test systems, including updates to station hardware.
  • Build, validate, and troubleshoot hardware interconnects, cables, and PCB components per schematics.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical system assemblies and solder electronics as needed.
  • Conduct repeatability runs for new software validation and analyze test failures.
  • Create and update SOPs, documentation, and test software configurations.
  • Calibrate test instrumentation and maintain equipment to ensure reliability.

The experience you bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience in factory technical support and operations, ideally in manufacturing test roles.
  • Associate’s degree in EE, ME, or CE preferred or equivalent relevant experience. We value your total experience and professional achievements most.
  • Hands-on experience in prototype manufacturing environments and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams and electronic schematics, with soldering expertise.
  • Advanced experience with computer systems, hardware, and troubleshooting.
  • Skilled in using handheld and rack-mounted multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other test/measurement tools.
  • Experience assembling mechanical and electrical hardware, components, and cables.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) is preferred; MS Office is acceptable.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and initiative.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and processes.
  • A growth mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and evolve.

It’s exciting if you also have

  • Experience with manufacturing robots, PLCs, and safety systems.
  • Familiarity with RF test instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical data analysis.
  • Understanding of software development for automation or scripting (C#, Python, LabVIEW, etc.).

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. In addition to salary, Magic Leap offers a discretionary bonus, equity, and a fully comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.

$92,100$115,100 USD
