Lead Engineer – DevOps
JCPenney is seeking a Lead Engineer to help us manage, maintain, support, and monitor a highly reliable, scalable, and available eCommerce Cloud platform. This person will help us to push new features and bug fixes from development to production in a predictable, automated, low risk and agile manner. Primary Responsibilities:
Automation of DevOps functions, including:
- Infrastructure as Code – Cloud Formation and or Terraform
- Cloud Engineering
- Expertise in handling cloud as well as On Prem workloads
- Application Deployments, Blue-Green and Canary Release Deployments
- Containerization and site reliability
- Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Delivery (CD)
- Persistence Engineering, Caching and Storage solutions (SQL and NoSQL databases)
- Set-up and automation of applications on public IaaS platforms and containers
- Support defects and enhancement requests in a timely fashion
- Deep Knowledge of operations engineering to innovate and influence operational approach
- Engage in PoCs of new DevOps tooling to support changing requirements
- Develop dashboards to monitor infrastructure and application
- Mentoring and training DevOps resources
- Understanding the architecture and system designing
Technical skills/ requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 7+ years in DevOps functions, including strong hands on experience in:
- Python and Shell scripting
- Akamai Administration, Bot Manager
- AWS Cloud Engineering (particularly EC2, EKS,EBS, RDS, S3, ELB, VPC, CloudWatch)
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Jenkins or equivalent)
- Containerization (Docker), orchestrated using Kubernetes
- Persistence Engineering (Cassandra, Neo4j, PostgreSQL, Solr, Hazelcast or equivalent)
- Netflix OSS stack (particularly Zuul and Eureka)
- Atlassian suite of products (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket)
- Routing traffic using HAProxy and Akamai
- Logging and monitoring tools like Splunk, ELK, Prometheus,DynatraceÃ.
- Experience supporting production platforms
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrable understanding of DevOps and Continuous Delivery
- Quick learner with a great can-do attitude, open to on and off-site training
- Prior retail eCommerce experience is a plus.
- Akamai certifications is a plus
