Job Title: Lead Engineer Design – Embedded Firmware, FPGA (LED1)
Location: Plano, Texas

Job Duties:
- Design and develop 5G embedded firmware in field programmable gate array (FPGA) for next gen 5G cellular hardware systems.
- Create the electrical engineering backdrop across the semiconductor hardware devices that are based around a matrix of configurable logic blocks (CLBs) connected via programmable interconnects.
- Ensure embedded firmware FPGAs can be reprogrammed to desired application or functionality requirements after manufacturing.
- Facilitate electrical system design and integration of high-speed interfaces for FPGA products and perform integration and verification of highly complex FPGA-based embedded firmware platforms and hardware systems.
- Contribute to electrical development of FPGA embedded CPUs and MCUs by working with the design team and engage in the RTL design and verification of logic blocks.
- Provide verification of 5G Modem IP, build test-benches, test-cases, and automate test processes.
- Work on FPGA synthesis and lab testing of various test modules and automating lab equipment.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering, plus 2 years of experience in the position offered or an FPGA engineer design role.
- All of the required experience must have included: using understanding of embedded systems architecture and development of microcontrollers, microprocessors and real time operating systems to develop 5G applications; applying knowledge of DSP concepts and techniques for signal processing in 5G communication systems and networking protocols and standards including TCP/IP, UDP and other relevant protocols; programming in C, C++ and assembly language; working with firmware protocols like I2C, SPI and UART; designing and verifying RTL for digital circuits using tools like Verilog or VHDL and Python and Cocotb for testbench verification; testing hardware and software components using integrated logic analyzer for FPGA debugging and features such as trigger conditions and data capture; using signal generators to simulate and test electronic circuits; using spectrum analyzers to analyze and troubleshoot signals across a range of frequencies; applying security principles to implement security measures in embedded systems for data integrity and confidentiality; and using Peta-Linux to configure and manage embedded Linux systems on Xilinx FPGAs.
- This role entails hybrid work, with time split between working in our Plano, TX office and flexibility to telecommute from another U.S. location.
