This role will operate within the DevSecOps group across two capability areas (Observability & Hosting and Developer Pipelines) and work cross-functionally within our groups as well as across the organization. This role will provide technical architecture, hands-on implementation, and mentoring/guidance within our teams and across the org to increase adoption of our platform services and reduce duplication of effort in the DevOps space. This role will be moving back and forth across our stack; understanding legacy components and helping set the path for those to be modernized as well as entirely new technologies / spaces that have organization wide impact. Enabling migration to the cloud and “day 2” operations for teams across our org will be a major part of this role with a customer-enablement mindset (we want to empower people to solve their problems with common tooling, which requires understanding their problems and building common solutions)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work within and across engineering teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support new and improved technical architecture across many domains via discovering common underlying patterns, providing guidance, and authoring documentation (patterns for CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and other aspects of SDLC)
  • Understand current systems / architecture and shape the golden path into the cloud, using cloud-native, SaaS, and in-house software as a common platform
  • Mentor team members within areas of expertise to increase the team’s overall skill level and cross-train within org as applicable (e.g. showcase our new tech in engineering trainings)
  • Work with internal teams on proof of concepts for new technologies with a goal of org wide implementation
  • Troubleshoot large scale incidents along side other technology teams involving our platform services to drive resolution and participate in retros on how to prevent it from happening again
  • Drive to reduce duplicate toolsets/experiences and increase use of common tooling to serve maintainability and enterprise-wide returns. Drive adoption and incorporate feedback from our users

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in IT, computer science (or similar) or equivalent work experience (6-10 years)
  • Deep understanding of modern container-based software deployment and architecture patterns (all aspects of SDLC including local development, CI/CD, monitoring, logging)
  • Ability to dive deeply into existing tech stack and guide how to break it up/modernize it from both a systems and software angles
  • Familiarity with networking, routing, DNS, and load balancing concepts and troubleshooting
  • Ability to act as a leader in executing technical projects
  • Experience in managing resources in a public cloud required, Azure preferred
  • Experience with automation/IaC tooling like Terraform (or similar)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
  • Passion for staying up-to-date on technology trends (and knowing when not to implement them) and enjoying visibility in both internal and external technology communities (e.g. presenting both internally and at public conferences is an eventual expectation)
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g. Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are helpful
  • Technologies in use today (for reference, not fixed): Github (Repos, Actions, Copilot), Harness CD, Artifactory, ServiceNow, Helm, Jfrog Artifactory / Xray, Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana / Prometheus / Thanos, PCF (legacy on-prem)
