As a Lead Database Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our data management initiatives. Your role will involve not only developing and optimizing data systems but also operationally managing and leading a team of Database Engineers to ensure excellence in our data services.
Responsibilities
- Operationally manage and lead a team of Data Services Engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and professional growth.
- Direct the development and maintenance of database migration solutions, focusing on data integrity and performance.
- Drive strategic initiatives to improve the efficiency and scalability of our data migration and retrieval systems.
- Design and oversee ETL processes, leveraging tools like Microsoft SSIS, to support continuous integration and deployment workflows.
- Handle a variety of data-related requests, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of database optimization, and data access issues.
- Champion the team’s growth and development, including recruitment and mentorship of top-tier talent.
- Manage incident response related to data systems, aiming for swift resolution and minimal disruption to services.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of the data management strategies.
- Create and maintain documentation to streamline problem-solving and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Relevant work experience is also acceptable.
- 5-8 years of experience in building databases, data migration, and transformation.
- Advanced SQL coding and querying capabilities, especially with Microsoft SQL Server
- Expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexes.
- Experience with ETL tools such as Microsoft SSIS.
- Knowledge of various RDBMS products like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, FoxPro, and Microsoft Access.
- Proven ability to operationally manage and lead a team, with a focus on delivering results and professional development.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effective interaction and requirement gathering with onshore peers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
