The Role – Lead Creative Copywriter & Editor 12 Month FTC

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join as our new Lead Copywriter and Editor, joining our multi-disciplined Content team who’s goal is to create the best Mental Health and Wellbeing content in the world.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL GET TO:

Collaborate with other creatives in Content on projects from beginning to end, this would involve:

  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge (related and unrelated to copy – we’re a curious bunch)
    • Our goal is to create the best MH&W content in the world – so we need to pull insights and inspiration from everywhere.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Leads and other creatives to ensure processes and the day-to-day runs as smoothly as possible.
  • You’re the go-to subject matter expert at Unmind and you get to be a copywriting mentor for the less experienced copywriters in the team.
  • Master creative thinking, this could involve:
    • Collaborate with your cross-functional peers to create a truly impactful Unmind content experience.
    • Have the ability to generate creative insights and set creative directions on complicated topics so they feel simple, relatable, human and memorable.
    • Understand what makes a creative idea great and how to translate it into various types of copy and storytelling.

  • Shape the Creative direction of projects from beginning to end – this includes:
    • Leverage your expertise in copywriting and editing to both upskill and guide the Creative team. Additionally, serves as the voice of reason in copy, offering guidance on content narratives when collaborating with other creatives.
    • Collaborate with the Creative team to shape and prepare briefs, while also working closely with the team to translate the creative vision into compelling storytelling across various projects including campaign, animated, multimedia, and live-action formats.
    • Be the copywriting voice of reason that guides content narratives from a copy POV when collaborating with various Creatives and other disciplines.
    • Take ownership and/or support in the making of copywriting frameworks.

Owning Unmind’s TOV, this would involve:

  • Implement our tone of voice across the Unmind platform in line with our brand and style guides.
  • Edit and elevate our expert-created mental health courses and exercises, by making scientific and clinical topics feel warm and accessible.
  • Create brilliant micro-copy for all content-related user notifications.
  • Craft beautiful, engaging emails to support and uplift the user's content journey.
  • Commission and edit creative pieces such as Unmind Bedtime Stories to be brought to life through world-class narration and musical composition.
  • Write short, medium and long-form content for the Unmind platform in collaboration with Unmind’s clinical psychologists and expert external contributors.
  • Align with the psychology rep (also referred to as the Science rep) to ensure the clinical robustness of our content.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Lead and the Creative team to evolve and iterate on our TOV and documenting these decisions in our guidelines
  • Provide accurate timing estimations and work towards established project deadlines
  • Edit and update work based on feedback, data or testing, preserving consistency with our core brand TOV

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We firmly believe that no one is the finished article and that there should be learning in every role you do. However, some experience in the following is important for this position:

  • Exceptional creative writing and editing skills with a background of writing digital content for campaigns, advertising, products, ebooks, articles, webpages and emails.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills – this role will require close collaboration with other creatives and non-creatives where you take technical or scientific subject matter and turning it into engaging and accessible content for the consumer.
  • Demonstrating an audience-first mentality, excellent time management, and the capacity to handle ambiguity while working autonomously.
  • Passionate about mental health, tech-for-good, and generally improving people’s lives.
  • Comfortable working in an environment of rapid growth, change, and lots of unknowns.
