Reporting to the Head of Architecture of the Value Added Services )VAS) product development organization, the Chief Architect will have a critical role in VISA’s transformation and acceleration of our Generative AI journey. 
This role will work closely with the rest of the Technology leadership team in setting the AI/ML roadmap, analyzing and defining the critical initiatives and executing on them with specific focus on:
• Guide the company in the use of next GAI to deliver top-tier commerce applications / services in VAS and build comprehensive solutions for our merchants/consumers/banks. 
• Evaluate, develop, and deploy innovative technology solutions in the AI & ML space. 
• Understand the impact of GAI and ChatGPT on our business and drive solutions across various domains. 
• Choose features, build and optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques. 
• Extend our data with third-party sources of information when necessary. 
• Improve data collection procedures to include information relevant for building analytic systems.
Key Responsibilities 
• Drive the architecture for projects within the VAS business units (through architecture/design documents and developing key modules). 
• Collaborate with a team of Lead Engineers and stakeholders in the Value Added Services domains. 
• Establish software development patterns and best practices through examples and shipping code. 
• Ensure all relevant project teams follow a common set of principles and patterns and use a standard set of technology frameworks and libraries. 
• Apply architecture best practices that increase execution speed. 
• Develop architectures that are secure, robust, scalable, modular, API-centric, and global by nature. 
• Influence technology selection for the organization. 
• Define deployment topology in collaboration with peers across the technology organization. 
• Optimize the use of our Platforms & Solutions. 
• Contribute to key technology initiatives.
 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering, Science, Math 
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in architecture and/or development, 5 years of experience in building data-driven frameworks and solutions 
• Proven knowledge of successful design, architecture, and development using Hadoop with large data volumes 
• Deep understanding of the benefits/drawbacks of different integration patterns 
• Experience with continuous delivery and Dev Ops - infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, auditing, and security implementation and practices 
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with ML/AI technologies is required 
• A minimum of 3 years experience with RDBMS development is required 
• Knowledge of NoSQL stores (e.g. HBASE and Cassandra), data sciences, cloud and blockchain technologies is a plus 
• Prior knowledge and experience working with Merchant data/information is a plus 
• Paper publications, patents, and hackathon experience

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 147,400.00 to 213,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
