Lead 2D Artist (f/m/d)
We are seeking a skilled Lead 2D Artist with a strong 3D background, to join our team and contribute to Idle Bank Tycoon, a game enjoyed by millions of players. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of talented 2D and 3D Artists to create engaging and high-quality assets that bring immersive worlds to life. This position offers opportunities to help grow and develop your team while contributing creatively to the project.
As a Lead Artist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing your team’s work to ensure timely delivery that meets our quality standards. Your expertise in artistic, technical, and organizational areas will be key in fostering a productive work environment while staying involved in hands-on asset creation.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Art Director to define the content and aesthetic direction of projects.
- Lead the artistic team in developing high-quality assets.
- Define and establish art standards and systems, ensuring consistency across all creative work.
- Work with production to align schedules and plans with project goals.
- Contribute to project scheduling and maintain an organized approach to tasks.
- Ensure effective communication within the team to align with project objectives.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support team members' growth and improvement.
- Facilitate collaboration among team members and with other teams.
- Collaborate closely with the Art Director, Product Managers, and other teams to enhance project quality.
- Set and maintain high standards for the project, leading by example.
- Share knowledge and recommend best practices within your area of expertise.
- Ensure that all assets align with the artistic vision of the game and meet quality standards.
- Mentor and support the team’s development.
- Stay involved in hands-on asset creation, providing leadership by example when necessary.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to support team members' development.
- Work effectively with other leads and departments to make strategic decisions.
- Contribute to the overall structure and well-being of the art department.
Required Skills
- 6+ years of experience as an artist.
- Experience with 5 shipped game titles, preferably mobile, with at least 2 as a lead artist.
- Proven experience in the video game industry.
- Broad experience in various areas of game art, including backgrounds, characters, game objects, UI, and animation.
- Proficiency in creating low-poly assets.
- Strong knowledge of Photoshop or equivalent software.
- 3D generalist knowledge and experience with tools such as Blender and ZBrush.
- Familiarity with the Unity game engine.
- Experience in team leadership and management.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on collaboration.
- Strong artistic abilities.
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
- A problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to inspire and encourage creativity and innovation.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in creating or supervising UI/UX design.
- Basic knowledge of animation.
