About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our dynamic legal team in Bangkok. This would suit a junior lawyer who is keen to cover a broad area of work and multiple jurisdictions with a focus on APAC. The successful candidate will dedicate approximately 50% of their time to, providing general commercial legal support across various teams within the Legal function, with the remaining time being spent supporting competition, disputes and consumer law matters. This role requires a deep understanding of competition and consumer protection laws, as well as a good knowledge of general commercial legal matters.  

Key Responsibilities:

Competition and Consumer Law (50%):

  • Advisory Services: Provide expert legal advice on competition and consumer protection laws to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and interpret changes in competition and consumer protection laws, advising the business on necessary adjustments.
  • Investigations and Audits: Conduct internal investigations and audits to ensure compliance with competition and consumer protection laws.
  • Litigation Support: Assist in the preparation and management of litigation and dispute resolution matters across the world.
  • Training and Education: Help develop and deliver training programs for staff on competition and consumer protection laws and other regulatory compliance requirements (e.g. licensing).

General Commercial Support (50%):

  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service contracts, and partnership agreements.
  • Special Projects: Support the wider team on project matters including continual improvement and incidents
  • Risk Management: Identify, mitigate and manage legal risks associated with business.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research on various commercial law issues and provide actionable insights to the business.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practices.

Core Skills and Requirements:

  • 2-5+ years PQE general commercial/contractual matters with experience of competition/regulatory/commercial lawyer, with exposure to APAC matters.
  • Able to provide well-reasoned, yet practical legal advice on a wide-range of matters, with a clear focus on competition law, consumer law, and related regulatory issues as well as general commercial matters.
  • Able to communicate effectively with key business teams, global legal team and external counsel.
  • Self starter who can take forward cases with appropriate supervision.
  • Contribute to new policies, procedures, training, and templates with the goal of fostering efficiency and compliance.

Additional Skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent academic credentials, experience working in top-tier law firm and preferably with experience working in-house at an MNC.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a large diverse team.
  • A demonstrated can-do, roll up your sleeves, collaborative approach, coupled with a strong work ethic and sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication and legal drafting skills (verbal and written) in English.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with travel industry/technology a plus.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
  • Low ego and a strong desire to learn and be a team player.
