We have an unrivalled offering of products, a respected brand, and a successful sales team! It’s within this passionate team at Marshalls, that we’re recruiting for a Key Account Director to play a key role in the growth of our Civils & Drainage division.

So, What's the mission?

Reporting to the Managing Director this is an individual contributor role responsible for driving significant growth and profitability by managing and expanding relationships at a Sr Level with Key customers and stakeholders within the builders merchant channel.

This is a results-focused and commercially driven, with a primary focus on developing and managing trading agreements and promotions that align with business objectives.

The Key Account Director is also responsible for attending customer events and business unit reviews to strengthen partnerships, while actively contributing to the senior leadership team to shape and develop strategic initiatives and ensure the company's future growth and success.

  • Exceed sales targets by driving revenue growth and profitability with key accounts, particularly builder's merchants.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment and long-term success.
  • Negotiate and manage trading agreements that are commercially advantageous and support business goals.
  • Design and execute promotional strategies to drive market share growth and meet sales objectives.
  • Analyse sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities and improve account performance.
  • Represent the company at customer events, strengthening relationships and enhancing brand presence.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of strategies and customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to senior leadership with insights shaping strategic direction and growth.
  • Mentor colleagues and provide expert guidance in the C&D market, positioning Marshalls as the preferred supplier

What are the mission-critical skills?

  • Industry-specific experience is essential with a strong understanding of the builder's merchant/ construction sector
  • Proven track record in key account management.  
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a deep understanding of market dynamics, pricing strategies, and profit optimisation within the builder's merchant sector.
  • Negotiation and contract management: Expertise in negotiating and managing trading agreements, with the ability to secure favourable terms that drive business growth.
  • Relationship-building skills: Exceptional ability to develop and maintain strong, strategic relationships with senior-level stakeholders, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.
  • Strategic thinking and execution: Ability to develop and implement effective account strategies that align with broader business objectives and drive sustainable growth.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: Ability to articulate strategies, negotiate terms, and present ideas clearly and persuasively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in customer relationship management (CRM) systems: Proficiency in utilising CRM tools to manage customer relationships, track account performance, and optimise sales processes

Project Management skills and an advanced education in business or related fields are desirable but not essential.
