Kepak has some exciting opportunities for people looking to kick start their careers in the food industry. We need to get our amazing products onto the shelves for consumers as quickly as possible to enjoy, and our Operations teams are a key function to make that to happen.

Kepak are looking to recruit an IT Operations Apprentice to join the team at our factory in Portlethen, Aberdeen. You will be supported by a Mentor who will help and guide you through your apprenticeship and achieving your qualification.

For Apprentices, this programme is the perfect entry point into IT & Operations, and the wider Food Industry, through a structured apprenticeship programme. As an apprentice, you earn while you learn – Kepak pays you while you are being trained and you will complete a Level 3 IT Apprenticeship

What to expect in the job?

  • End-to-End Process Learning: Gain hands-on experience and a deep understanding of each stage of the production process, and the requirements of IT support for each
  • As a member of the IT team onsite, you will deliver and support our digital platforms to support the needs of the various functions and their differing requirements
  • Support any changes or new implementations, following the change management process
  • Create and maintain accurate records of Infrastructure services and assets, including documentation
  • End to end management of issues, through to resolution required, to ensure the issues are fixed
  • Monitoring the systems and ensuring they are operating as required
  • Business Operations: Support the business operations team in ensuring the smooth running of their software and hardware. Being present on the factory floors to provide support
  • Data Management: Handle data entry, analysis, and reporting to help inform decision-making processes
  • Project Support: Contribute to various projects by supporting project management teams with coordination, scheduling, and communications. Exposure to real-world projects and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to business outcomes
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all documentation and processes adhere to internal and external standards, including regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, to support business operations and foster teamwork

Start date: September 2025

Location: Kepak Merthyr, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales

Starting Salary - £18,000 with an up to £2,000 increase at the start of Year 2 to £20,000

Requirements

What we need from you?

While there is no previous experience needed for this role, the right candidate will;

  • Be reliable and fully committed to the 2 year Apprentice programme
  • Have a positive attitude with strong attention to detail
  • Be willing to learn at all times
  • Be flexible in their approach to work
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Willing and able to travel to our Merthyr site daily, and our training provider as required
  • GCSE Grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
