Meet the job
With guidance from a Senior QA Engineer, you develop, enhance and execute manual and automated tests that cover functional and non-functional requirements (such as Accessibiltiy), provide test evidence and reports and comment on test designs and plans. You astonish your team and key stakeholders with your eagerness to learn about our product and testing processes.
Your passion for quality extends beyond scripting tests. You have an eye for detail and contribute to continuously improving the testing process in your team. You are able to explain your testing findings. You also understand the value of collaboration and soliciting opinions and approaches. Therefore, you ask for advice and consider different possibilities.
How about you?
●Starting in the craft of QA Engineer;
●Bachelor in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or similar/related technical field, or equivalent practical experience;
●English language, written and spoken.
Knowledge & Application:
●Knows a programming language, preferably one of the programming languages already used in the organisation, and can code, sometimes with the help from a more senior QA engineer;
●Starts learning test automation or has some small experience with it;
●Learns about test automation rules and standards from the QA guild;
●Reviews a PR for educational purposes with the help of a more senior QA; ●Engineer and learns how to provide feedback;
●Knows the different testing levels and testing type;
●Practises test design with the usage of test methodologies and the help of a more senior QA engineer;
●Has the capability to execute the designed test cases and report on the findings in a comprehensive way, sometimes with the help of a senior engineer;
●Knows how to use a test management tool with the help of a senior QA engineer;
●Is familiar with the fundamentals of the frameworks and tools used for QA and testing;
●Knows how to set up their environment and use basic tools with the help of senior QA engineer;
●Understands the importance of security. Has done the Backbase security trainings for their role;
●Is aware of other non-functional quality aspects important for our product such as accessibility and performance;
●Studies and understands the available recorded accessibility trainings and documentation that are available from the organisation;
●Understands how to version code, and how to contribute to a shared repository.
●Understands how an automated test run works in the organisation's selected CI/CD system with the help of a senior QA Engineer;
●Knows and understands the CI/CD phases.
Complexity & Problem Solving:
●Understands the basics of debugging and the tools used for it. Can debug a failing test case and indicate the problems in it with the help of a senior QA Engineer;
●Can explore for a solution when an issue arises before asking for help.
Collaboration & Interaction:
●You act as a part of the agile team, take part and contribute to Agile ceremonies and work closely with the product owner and various team members;
●You take an active and engaging role in the QA Chapter meetings together with other QA Engineers, you exchange knowledge and/or information;
●Gets support from one of our Senior QA Engineers and get an opportunity to shadow them on a project;
●Understands the value of rightsizing tasks to enable continuous integration and incremental delivery;
●Acts according to task prioritisation;
●Actively seeks feedback from peers and senior QA engineers, enhancing personal growth and testing outcomes;
●Learns and develops their craft, becoming more and more independent and knowledgeable.
