We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Power BI Engineer to join our Data & Analytics Support team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of our existing Power BI reports and dashboards. Your expertise in Power BI and understanding of data structures from Google Cloud Platform (GCP) will be crucial in troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing timely solutions.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop and execute test plans to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data displayed in Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Validate data transformations and calculations within Power Query (M) and DAX to ensure data integrity.
- Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Implement best practices for data refresh scheduling, data modeling, and report design to optimize performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to data connectivity, report rendering, DAX calculations, and other Power BI functionalities.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify the source of issues and implement permanent solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for supported Power BI reports and dashboards, including data sources, calculations, and known issues.
- Collaborate with business users and communicate technical information effectively.
- Completed basic or master studies in computer science or similar.
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) working with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, with a focus on report and dashboard support.
- Strong understanding of Power BI data models, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), and Power Query (M).
- Experience troubleshooting data connectivity issues with GCP sources like BigQuery and Cloud Storage.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Ability to analyse data, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
