(Junior/ Mid) Back-End Software Engineer

About the Tech Team

Technology powers everything we do at Dialectica – from communicating with clients and finding the most relevant expert profiles in just a few minutes to indexing and categorizing thousands of pieces of information every day. To do so, we are building our own proprietary web application that automates and optimizes the delivery of our market leading services.

To date, the team consists of 80+ people across Software Engineering, Product & Design, TechOps, and is expected to grow further in 2025. Being part of Dialectica’s Technology Team you will have the opportunity to help build tech products according to the requirements of our internal and external clients and share the company’s vision to roll out more information services software products in the future.

Description

As a Back End Software Engineer in Dialectica you will:

• Write well structured, testable, performant, secure code.
• Be involved in the overall application lifecycle.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs in back-end code, find solutions to minimize customer impact.
• Review code and have your own code reviewed by fellow engineers.
• Be actively involved in all team ceremonies, weekly sprints and retrospectives.
• Work closely with product managers and other disciplines, such as the front end engineers (our front end applications are developed in React, Apollo Gateway, Typescript).

Requirements

For a junior position in this role we have seen that people who fit best have:

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• Solid foundation in Object-Oriented Programming
• Understanding of SQL databases
• 1-2 years of experience in building Web Applications

For a mid position in this role we expect in addition to the above:

• 3-5 years of proven experience in building Web Applications that are robust, maintainable and scalable.
• Experience with back end technologies and frameworks (e.g Ruby/Ruby on Rails, Go, Java, PHP, Python, NodeJS/Express).
• Experience with SQL (We use PostgreSQL).
• A grasp of software architecture and the software development life cycle.
• Good understanding of the Object-Oriented programming patterns and best practices.
• A broad knowledge of the web platform as a whole (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, HTTP/S, web performance, web security).

It's great, but not required if you have:

• Familiarity with No-SQL Databases (preferably MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis)
• Familiarity with GraphQL
• Familiarity with microservices architectures
• Knowledge and an active interest in Design Patterns and SOLID architecture principles
• Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design
• DevOps mindset
• Agile development experience (SCRUM)
