Junior Machine Learning Engineer

Purpose of the Role

The Junior Machine Learning Engineer will support the development and implementation of machine learning models and data-driven solutions to enhance business processes. This role involves assisting with dashboard creation in Power BI, machine learning algorithm development, and efficiency improvement initiatives. The engineer will work closely with an experienced digital transformation team (as part of a wider Technology group) and with the overall business to gain industry-specific knowledge and will also be responsible for initiating and implementing Machine Learning projects both internally and for clients.

Requirements

Key Accountabilities

Dashboarding:

•   Assist in developing interactive dashboards using tools such as Power BI (PBI) and Python.
• Work with senior team members to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and create visualizations that support data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure data accuracy and reliability within dashboards.

Machine Learning:

• Support the design, implementation, and optimization of machine learning algorithms to meet organizational needs.
• Explore traditional Machine Learning techniques (such as regression, classification, and clustering) under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Machine Learning models into existing systems and processes.

Efficiency Improvement:

• Assist in analyzing business processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Leverage machine learning techniques to enhance operational efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
• Monitor and evaluate model performance, making necessary adjustments as needed.

Project Initiation and Implementation:

• Work with an experienced industry professionals at the company to gain industry-specific knowledge.
• Initiate and formulate Machine Learning projects internally to address business needs.
• Implement ML projects for clients as per demand, ensuring alignment with client requirements and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain dashboards for various business units, ensuring timely and accurate data visualization.
• Collaborate with data engineers and stakeholders to define Machine Learning project objectives and success criteria.
• Implement Machine Learning models using Python libraries (such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch) under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and feature engineering to prepare data for modelling.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics.
• Deploy Machine Learning models in production environments and monitor their performance over time where appropriate.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in machine learning.
