Salary Range:
The expected pay range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000 yearly. The pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Technical Writer with at least 1 year of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will create clear and concise technical documentation, including equipment manuals, appendices, and operating and maintenance instructions. The Junior Technical Writer will collaborate with technical teams to ensure accuracy and clarity in documentation and may assist with layout work to ensure documents are visually accessible and well-organized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Documentation Creation: Write and edit technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, and user guides, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Work closely with engineers, developers, and subject matter experts to gather and translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Operating and Maintenance Instructions: Develop operating and maintenance instructions for various equipment and systems to support user understanding and compliance. Update and revise existing documentation to reflect changes in equipment or procedures.
- Layout and Document Formatting: Assist in layout and formatting to create visually organized, easy-to-read documents. Ensure consistency in style, tone, and formatting across all technical documentation.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in technical writing or a related role.
- Strong written communication skills, with attention to detail and clarity.
- Basic knowledge of technical documentation standards and best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with technical writing tools such as Adobe Acrobat, MadCap Flare, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in document layout and design.
- Familiarity with content management systems or knowledge management software.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Clearance Requirement:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have an active Public Trust or have the ability to obtain one.
