Jr. Applications Engineer

Liquid Instruments makes technology for scientists, engineers, and students to enable them to learn, create, and discover. Founded by a team of scientists at the Australian National University and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, our team developed ultra-sensitive instrumentation for measuring gravitational waves and has deep expertise in high-speed digital signal processing. We used the technology to create a new breed of software-defined instrumentation for test and measurement that enables users to acquire data, generate signals and control their tests and experiments. Our platforms combine the processing power and reconfigurability of FPGAs with intuitive user interfaces, delivering a breakthrough combination of versatility, performance, and cost.

Liquid Instruments is based in San Diego, California and Canberra, Australia, where we have grown from an idea to a 50-person team. We are constantly working across time zones and prioritize communications so that we can stay in sync across the globe.

We are growing our application engineering and support teams in California and are looking for start-up minded individuals who are familiar with electrical test and measurement equipment. You will provide front line user support for our tools and technologies as well as engage with potential customers in developing unique solutions to their experimental needs.

This role offers opportunities to learn in many technical areas and includes hands-on experience with the next generation of test and measurement equipment. The role is designed to provide a pathway to a future position as an Application Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Support our worldwide customers by managing & triaging inbound technical enquiries from email, chat, user forum
  • Provide customers with technical information or solutions; typically referencing existing documentation
  • Replicate customers bug/error reports and escalate within the applications team as needed
  • Accurately categorize customer’s technical enquiries to provide overview of areas of improvement or need for further support material
  • Assist in the maintenance and creation of technical support materials including application notes, API code examples and ensuring the knowledge base is maintained
  • Support our regular software updates with HW and SW testing on our Moku devices
  • Ability for occasional travel to trade shows in support of sales activities

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Some experience (intern) working for a technical company is helpful
  • Sense of urgency for providing world class support to our customers
  • Exposure to programming in Python, C/C++ or similar
  • Ability to collaborate across time zones and work remotely, with occasional flexibility for odd hours; willingness to travel to Australia for training and team bonding is a plus

Salary Range:

  • $70,000 - $80,000
