The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for working with building and manufacturing engineers, architects and other team members to help design and install electrical systems for new construction projects or existing electrical systems located within our BETA Facilities. The team member will be responsible for maintaining electrical equipment and tooling by inspecting electrical components, identifying electrical issues and repairing or replacing equipment or tooling necessary for supporting BETA’s Mission. The Journeyman Electrician will assist in creating, training and implementing safety rules and procedures by working alongside any team member dedicated to the project or scope of work being performed and will utilize their knowledge of electrical codes and systems to install or renovate electrical wiring, lighting and power distributions systems.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- General
- Perform work on ANSI defined medium and low voltage electrical systems and equipment that generally operate in a voltage range from 12,470 VAC to 120 VAC. BETA owns their own switchgear which will require routine and timely maintenance and repairs.
- Supports and assists BETA Team members with completing projects or deadlines on time
- Remains flexible and friendly, able to collaborate, coach and educate others.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of work while performing any task.
- Perform general facilities maintenance team tasks when necessary.
- Preventative Maintenance and Repair
- Perform tasks and duties related to the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the electrical systems fire alarms, equipment and tooling.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures to ensure compatibility and safety for all systems.
- Enter and track work orders using computerized maintenance management systems which track work status, labor and materials.
- Maintains appropriate records and receipts for work performed.
- New Construction and Renovations
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and schematics associated with construction or renovation of buildings, utilities, roads, or other civil, commercial, residential or manufacturing infrastructure.
- Assist in review of design and construction documents (plans, specifications, vendor equipment, etc.)
- Strong commercial electrical background.
- Assist BETA contractors and vendors in commissioning and start-up of new electrical system installations.
- Safety
- Use knowledge and experience to follow national and state safety and compliance codes.
- Work with facility and safety team members in developing safety programs and procedures for operating electrical gear safely at each BETA facility.
- Support BETA quick response teams with closures or openings as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications we are seeking (your Knowledge, Experience, and Abilities):
- Holds a current Licensed Journeyman Electrician license by the Vermont Commissioner of Public Safety and the Electricians’ Licensing Board.
- Minimum of 10 years as an Electrician with direct recent relevant medium voltage (12,470 VAC and similar) experience.
- Must maintain a high level of technical knowledge by continuing education and certificate programs to keep current with code changes and emerging technologies.
- Ability to perform electrical requirements in dangerous, busy or loud environments.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced-team structured environment.
- Knowledge and experience using an extensive range of power tools and heavy equipment
- Ability to coordinate and carry materials necessary to perform electrical work or tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate within the organizations software and email programs.
- High energy, self motivated, organized and detail oriented.
- Strong problem solving skills and an outside of the box thinker is highly desirable.
- Must have a valid driving license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions. May beexposed to potentially hazardous conditions, noise and temperature extremes. Work pressure,disturbances of workflow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur regularly. Workis performed primarily in the field at the site of the work. Working conditions may be somewhatdisagreeable requiring occasional exposure to safety hazards. Regular travel between facilities is daily.While primary facilities hours are day shift, must be able to work in the event of emergencies oroperational disruptions/special projects. Position involves frequent bending, standing, kneeling,climbing ladders, reaching below and above shoulders, and moderate to heavy lifting up to 75lbs is required. Wrist,hand and finger dexterity is required to operate various equipment and materials. Must be able to usehand carpentry and power tools. Extensive walking, climbing ladders to get to the site of variousprojects and work activities are part of everyday activity.
