Delta Solutions is seeking an Orbital Warfare Subject Matter Expert to provide Space Activities Synchronization Officer (SASO) support the United States Space Command Joint Operations Center at Peterson AFB, CO. This position directly supports USSPACECOM’s Protect and Defend mission by ensuring the JOC Director is ready to conduct operations in the space Joint Operations Area. The SASO will train with and directly support operational crews to provide the Battle Watch Commander with updates and recommendations regarding space support to theater operations throughout each shift.
The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of orbital mechanics and enjoys having their finger on the pulse of the Nation’s global Space Domain Awareness missions. Experience performing orbital analysis using relevant SDA tool kits, understanding of global SDA sensors and data sources, and knowledge of both DoD and National space capabilities are key differentiators.
What you will be doing:
Provide JOC operational and subject matter expertise support. This includes responding to Requests for Information (RFI), analyzing impacts of orbital events, and providing insights and expertise to the Battle Watch Commander and senior USSPACECOM stakeholders.
Develop and maintain training resources and materials to conduct detailed training supporting the JOC Mission Qualification Training (MQT) programs for certification of crew members. Support development of TTPs for use by operational crews. Participate during exercise or training events as a role player to represent external organizations.
Coordinate with Space Domain Awareness partner organizations (NSDC, CSpOC, NOC, etc.) and participate in appropriate Space Domain Awareness working groups and OPTs as required.
SASOs mainly support the JOC as Non Mission Essential staff during contract core hours of Mon-Fri, 0730-1630 when not scheduled for a pro-shift or backup shift.
Occasionally provide crew backup shift coverage to the operational crews and work at least two proficiency shifts per month. Any after-hours pro-shift time is offset by compensatory “comp” time and required crew rest.
What you will need:
Orbital warfare expertise. Strong foundational knowledge of orbital mechanics. Practical experience analyzing data to understand and create orbital trajectories (e.g. differential corrections) and explain mission impacts using relevant tools like CAVENet and modernized equivalents. Ability to analyze orbital activities proactively.
Ability to occasionally work crew shifts supporting a mission essential 24/7 operations environment and contribute to the team’s success. This may include nights or weekends.
Ability to provide subject matter expertise in multiple core Space Operations mission areas such as SDA, SATCOM, PNT, ISR, or Space Control
Knowledge of various Space Support system tools such as SDCCS, CAVENet, PDSM, Space Board, GAP-CIE, etc. Hands-on experience preferred.
Willingness to learn new tools and skills essential to mission success
The ability to converse with senior officers, share your expertise, and work in a high ops tempo when called upon
An active TS/SCI Clearance is required to be considered for this position
