JOB PROFILE:
We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to design and build a scalable backend system that manages the execution and runtime of thousands of smaller applications simultaneously. If you thrive on solving complex challenges related to concurrent execution and are passionate about ensuring high availability, observability, and resilience in backend systems, this opportunity is for you!
We expect that you can be an advocate of clean code, and clean architecture, TDD (Test Driven Development), pair programming and always welcome feedback. In the role you will:
- Analyse and integrate sports oriented real-time data from a variety of complex sources, showcasing your adaptability
- Collaborate with architects, tech leaders and engineers to innovate and refine data exposure, ensuring efficient handling streams, thus directly impacting the speed and accuracy of data-driven decisions.
- Build and improve backend micro-services using different technologies, such as Java and Apache Kafka.
- Utilize advanced knowledge in Java, and modern development practices to lead and guide the team in organising themselves around optimal solutions.
- Be a proponent of clean code and clean architecture.
- Oversee the full delivery pipeline for your services, from configuring AWS infrastructure and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, through development, deployment, and comprehensive monitoring in production.
Required:
- Proven experience in Java
- Familiarity with Kafka
- Experience in building APIs and low latency systems
- Hands-on experience in writing tests
- Experience in designing and working on highly scalable systems
- Solid understanding of backend architectures, including distributed systems, microservices, and containerized environments.
- Familiarity with designing fault-tolerant systems, implementing failover mechanisms, and ensuring system reliability.
- A can-do attitude, take pride in own work and an ability to keep up momentum
Desirable experience:
- Familiarity with various AWS services including S3, EC, VPC, ElastiCache, MSK, etc
- Fast and maintainable gRPC APIs
- Experience with Docker and K8s
- Worked in Agile development teams
