SAR Academy seeks a technology specialist. The technology specialist is a valued member of a supportive, collegial technology team. They are responsible for supporting teacher, student, and administrative use of technology as well as maintaining technology infrastructure throughout the school. The ideal candidate is a hard-working professional, with strong organizational and communication skills and a particular interest in educational technology, systems administration, and effective tech support. This outgoing, team-oriented professional understands the needs of teachers and is committed to the advancement of educational technology in a school environment.
Responsibilities
“Front line” help desk work fielding support tickets and providing tech. support for students and staff
Managing and maintaining devices for student & faculty 1:1 iPad program and faculty 1:1 laptop program
Supporting the technology infrastructure throughout the school, including SMART interactive flat panels, network equipment, A/V equipment, IP phones, printers and other equipment
Training faculty & students on use of school systems and software platforms
Maintaining and creating technology documentation and tutorials for the school community
Attending and participating in technology department and faculty meetings, and numerous after-school events during the school year
Collaborating and sharing best practices within the technology department and the school community
Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues specifically related to smartboards, iPads, Macs, printers, copiers, and other educational technologies
Setting up and supporting classroom technology equipment, including smartboards, projectors, and audiovisual systems
Engaging in regular professional development that supports school, department and personal goals
Maintaining and managing printers
Maintaining hardware inventory
Supporting tech set-up for school events
Assisting with the management and maintenance of the school's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and access points
Performing routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, antivirus scans, and data backups
Maintaining accurate records of technical issues and solutions using the helpdesk ticketing system
Collaborating with the IT team to implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices
Assisting with hardware and software procurement, inventory management, and asset tracking
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology and Director of Technology
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, technical degree or equivalent technology work experience, preferably in an educational setting, technology certifications
Knowledge of basic networking and systems infrastructure
Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Mac and PC
Proficiency with macOS, iOS, Google Workspace, Jamf, and Microsoft Office
Familiarity with network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, and wireless access points
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions
Interest in working with people who have varying levels of technology expertise and interest
Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Preferred certifications: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Google Certified Educator, Microsoft Certified, JAMF certifications such as: JAMF Certified Technician (JAMF 100), JAMF Certified Administrator (JAMF 200), JAMF Certified Expert (JAMF 300)
This 12-month, full-time position in the Technology Department offers a comprehensive benefits package. The Technology Specialist reports to the Director of Information Technology. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and ranges from $45,000 for junior-level candidates to $75,000 for senior-level candidates.
