Contact Energy is hiring an

Investor Relations Analyst

Wellington, New Zealand
Full-Time

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

Based in our newly refurbished Wellington head office, as Investor Relations Analyst you’ll work closely with the Head of Corporate Finance to communicate Contact’s performance and strategy to the investment community and provide support on key initiatives and projects.

Reporting to the Investor Relations and Strategy Manager (an awesome wahine and expert in this space), you’ll work to deeply understand the markets in which Contact operates, build working relationships with the investment community (including communicating our performance and strategy), keep an eye on the opinions of market commentators, analyse competitor performance, and participate in key strategic projects including the development of models to assess opportunities, financial analysis, and working on M&A opportunities.

As one of New Zealand’s largest energy retailers and the only one without a major shareholder, we’re uniquely positioned to go bigger, faster, and harder than our competitors. In the last year alone, we have made some exciting decisions and acquisitions, and the investments we’ve executed on are really positive … with appetite for more. This is an exciting time to join Contact. We’re on a mission to decarbonise Aotearoa, and the behind-the-scenes mahi to get there is unlike anything else you could find in NZ.

This won’t just be great for your career, it’s great for Aotearoa.

Ko wai koe | About you

Innately commercial, you really “get” the operational drivers in a business and have the analytical skills to interpret, analyse, and discuss with confidence all financial and non-financial aspects with a keenly interested investment community. You’ve honed these skills over years in a similar role, where you’ve had to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders built on a foundation of credibility and trust. Widely regarded as somebody who’s politically aware, commercially astute, and an excellent communicator, you have the influencing skills necessary to convey the potential impact of various policy and regulatory outcomes, while also bringing banter to an office.

It would be great if you’ve worked in the Energy sector before and have an understanding of continuous disclosure obligations, but we’re happy to provide training on the markets and would love to see a variety of backgrounds. Outstanding communication skills will set you apart from the rest, especially if they’ve been related to Investor Relations.

There are a bunch of perks to being a permanent Contact kaimahi. Along with great leadership, teammates, development, and growth and progression opportunities, you’ll enjoy flexible working, free health insurance cover, access to Contact Shares, a ‘Good to be Home’ annual payment toward your home set up & wellbeing, a trail-blazing parental leave policy, discounts on Contact Energy products, and more.

This ad will close automatically on Friday 22 November but we’re considering applications as they come in, so hop to it if you're keen or if there's something you’re curious to know first, reach out to Tash on [email protected].

Please note, only candidates with the right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered for this role.

Research shows that while men apply to jobs where they meet 60% of the criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they tick every box. We're not about box ticking, so if you think you have what it takes but don't meet everything stated above, please still get in touch. We'd love to kōrero.
