Working in Investment Team in Italy

The business area European Wind and Solar is responsible for development and ownership of wind and solar assets in Europe. The business area is also responsible for the project execution of large projects in Statkraft. We are now expanding in several European markets and need an Investment Associate to strengthen the Investment Team with a focus on Italy. The team is responsible for providing investment and commercial services to Asset Owners in aspects related to project development, acquisitions, valuations, partnerships and sell down processes. Members of the team are based in various offices around Europe i.e., Oslo, Amsterdam, Madrid, London, and Dusseldorf.

In this role you will work with experienced investment managers and provide support in the financial assessment of project opportunities and investments in the wind and solar sector. The primary focus of the role will be Italy however you will be expected to support other European markets, depending on the needs. You will work with our Investment Manager in Milan and will report to the Head of Investments and M&A Italy who is based in Amsterdam.

Your main activities and responsibilities will be:

  • Defining the business case and setting up financial models, including various offtake alternatives
  • Supporting the development team in modelling different project development scenarios (i.e., different revenue streams, PPAs, storage, layouts etc.)
  • Analyzing, structuring, and preparing the documentation for the origination and execution of projects, pipelines, and M&A deals (both buy- and sell-side)
  • Working closely with the project teams to ensure that all project related assumptions are correctly reflected in the model and business case
  • Providing market-wide analyses to develop market intelligence
  • Liaising with financial investors active in the renewable energy space
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

  • University degree in finance, economics, or engineering
  • Around 3 years of relevant working experience gained in a bank, an infrastructure investor, energy company, or a related advisory business
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, demonstrable modelling and valuation experience
  • Experience of (renewable energy) M&A a plus
  • Understanding of project economics and key value drivers and ability to think creatively to maximize project value
  • Excellent written and spoken Italian and English. Additional languages a plus as they might enable working on projects in different countries more easily
