The Investment Associate role is a critical role in BECO’s investment team, and offers a unique opportunity to shape a new strategy for one of the region’s largest non-governmental venture capital firms. As a key member of the investment team, you'll be working directly with the investment team to conduct due diligence on prospective investments as well as manage the portfolio. Responsibilities
- Portfolio Oversight: Support in portfolio monitoring and ensure accurate data collection for regular LP updates. Drive portfolio reviews and prepare strategic summaries for senior leadership.
- Deal Due Diligence: Contribute to due diligence for new deals and follow-on rounds, collaborating with General Partners to ensure thorough and timely analysis aligned with investment criteria. Assist in the preparation of investment related materials for pitch decks and due diligence materials where needed.
- Modelling & Data Analysis: Preparing in-depth and robust models from scratch for each analyzed opportunity (web analytics, market sizing, unit economics, CAC/LTV modelling, cohort analysis etc.).
- Valuation and Risk Analysis: Oversee valuation models and sensitivity analyses, assessing risks and testing scenarios for potential returns. Mentor junior team members in these processes.
- Product and Service Evaluation: Lead product demos and testing, providing strategic feedback and comparisons to inform investment decisions.
- Market and Economic Analysis: Direct market research and analysis to identify high-impact opportunities and emerging risks, ensuring actionable insights for the investment team.
- Research: Gather research and analysis for deal primers and investment memos for new and existing opportunities. Contribute to creating all IM’s from initial memos all the way up to follow-on memos.
- Document & System Management: Performing data entry tasks as needed, ensuring accuracy and timely input of key information received from our portfolio companies into our internal systems. Maintaining and ensuring all documents (legal documents, portfolio company updates, etc). are up to date and maintaining portfolio information and updates.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience in VC, public markets, or investment banking.
- Demonstrated experience in producing market research reports and presenting to senior leadership.
- Ability to manage stakeholders using effective communication, relationship building and emotional intelligence.
- Proficiency in building and analyzing financial and business models using commercial acumen, advanced Excel skills, knowledge of basic accounting principles, in addition to being data-driven.
- Strong critical thinking skills with an investor mindset and the ability to multitask under pressure while being adaptable and resilient.
- Experience in analyzing companies on a micro and macro level while having an in-depth understanding of investment metrics.
