Remote

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

Global Intelligence is composed of highly trained investigators, based in the UK and USA. The mission of the team is to protect Coinbase, its customers, and the ecosystem. We engage with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA’s) to help reduce criminal activity and victimization of users on and off our platform.

This is a remote role and the Investigator will be reporting to the Sr. Director. The Investigator will work with law enforcement and other agencies to respond to enquiries for customer data. On occasion they may also be called upon to investigate instances of suspected criminal activity.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Being the main point of contact for legal/government inquiries
  • Evaluating requests and determining any risks or sensitivities
  • Escalating any urgent or complex matters to management
  • Providing technical assistance and records within legal guidelines
  • Staying up to date on relevant laws and policies

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to serve as the primary contact for legal/government inquiries
  • Strong professional judgment to evaluate requests and determine appropriate level of assistance
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies in a fast-changing crypto environment
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities

Nice to haves:

  • Well versed in Cryptocurrency analytics and research.
  • Diverse experience investigating cybercrime.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Looker, Snowflake, and SQL
  • The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience directly interfacing with law enforcement agencies.
