About World Central Kitchen
World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a global nonprofit organization founded by chef José Andrés, with a singular mission: to be first to the frontlines with food in the wake of disaster or crisis. WCK’s approach is rooted in urgency and innovation. We have distributed more than 400 million meals across the globe, responding swiftly to natural or manmade disasters and conflict zones, always with a focus on delivering hope and nourishment.
As WCK continues its rapid growth and expands its global reach, we are looking for a Fundraising
Consultant in Latin America to help drive bold new strategies and raise significant, unrestricted funds that will allow us to feed more people in more places.
The right partner will share our passion, understands the urgency of our mission, and possesses the tenacity to help scale our work through dynamic fundraising efforts, supporting our Climate Disaster Fund and humanitarian work in conflict zones.
WCK’s annual budget is $275m USD and we aim to at least double this in the coming years so we can respond to the growing number of crises in the world. The Climate Disaster Fund was launched in 2021 and is our commitment to raise and spend $1 billion USD.
Scope of Work
We are looking for an ambitious and passionate partner who can design and implement a high-impact fundraising strategy that maximizes revenue from individuals, corporations, and foundations across Latin America. The selected consultant will need to be laser-focused on growing our donor base while helping WCK diversify revenue streams, ensuring that our ability to respond to disasters and crises is not restricted by funding limitations.
This person or firm will work in close partnership with WCK’s US-based development team for support and to ensure alignment with our global goals and mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy Development: Create and execute a dynamic fundraising plan for Latin America, targeting high-net-worth individuals, corporate donors, foundation grants, and grassroots donors, with a focus on maximizing unrestricted funds.
- Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management: Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with potential donors in Latin America, ensuring a long-term commitment to WCK’s mission.
- Grant Writing & Proposal Development: Work closely with the US-based grant-writing team for support in writing and submitting proposals to Latin American-based foundations and corporations, with a focus on securing sustainable funding.
- Climate & Conflict Fundraising: Spearhead efforts to boost support for WCK’s Climate Disaster Fund and humanitarian work in active conflict zones, positioning these funds as critical to the future of WCK’s global work.
- Event Planning & Execution: Organize high-impact fundraising events—both virtual and in-person—with a goal of elevating WCK’s profile and increasing donor engagement throughout Latin America.
- Reporting & Metrics: Provide regular, data-driven updates on progress toward financial targets, donor engagement, and overall performance. All donor and prospect data must be accurately maintained in Salesforce.
Deliverables
- A comprehensive, results-oriented fundraising strategy for Latin America.
- Monthly reports detailing donor cultivation activities and secured funding and pipeline of prospects and actions.
- Timely submission of grant proposals to targeted foundations and corporations.
- Successful execution of at least one major fundraising event during the contract period.
- Development of strategic partnerships that expand WCK’s footprint in Latin America.
The initial contract term will be for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the evolving needs of the organization.
Requirements
- Proven track record of securing significant funding across multiple revenue streams (individual, corporate, and foundation) in Latin America, preferably in the global nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
- Experience fundraising in high-stakes environments that require quick thinking and innovative approaches.
- Strong connections in the Latin American philanthropic community, including major donors, corporate partners, and influential networks.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken).
- A deep understanding of WCK’s mission, the global humanitarian landscape, and a shared commitment to feeding people in times of crisis.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a global, fast-paced, and high-performing team.
- Must be already based in Latin America with legal working authorization.
Evaluation Criteria
- Demonstrated success in fundraising for high-impact causes.
- Strength of the proposed strategy, work plan, and timeline.
- Alignment with WCK’s mission, values, and growth aspirations.
