Job Description: International Accountant Manager  

The International Accounting Manager is responsible for interacting with third party accounting providers who perform the day-to-day accounting activities of the company’s international locations and/or directly performing the accounting activities himself/herself.  The international Accounting Manager is also responsible for working with legal, accounting, treasury, HR and other constituents on new entity formation.

Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Establish and manage relationship with third party accounting providers
  • Perform accounting for international entities and/or review the work of 3rd party providers who perform the accounting for certain international entities
  • Maintain foreign exchange rate tables within ERP to assist in the proper recording of daily transactions in foreign currencies
  • Translate the month-end balance sheet and income statement for the international entities as part of the monthly close
  • Perform the monthly close for international entities, including elimination entries
  • Reconcile inter-company activity between the international entities and the parent company
  • Maintain intercompany loan schedules
  • Perform functional currency analysis for all new entity formation and on a periodic basis
  • Determine proper coding of transactions for accurate accounting and application of amounts to the general ledger; generate multiple reports for the accounting department and various other departments
  • Review invoices and expense reports and approve, as necessary
  • Ensure proper billing of customers for international sales
  • Participate in year-end audit and work with auditors as needed, preparing requested items
  • Work with outside tax providers on the tax filings of the international entities
  • Lead transfer pricing efforts with 3rd parties
  • Work with legal, accounting, treasury and HR on capitalization of new entity formation
  • Participate in functional meetings and coordinate on projects and reporting efforts with other finance, tax, supply chain, sales and legal team members

  • Maintain custody of critical documents
  • Perform process improvement initiatives
  • Implement controls and policies across all international locations
  • Perform ad-hoc projects as required

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA in Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish; interviews will be conducted in both languages
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience working with international entities – particularly close process and new entity formation (preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize information, develop insights and communicate effectively in presentations and in-person meetings
  • Strong business acumen and attention to detail
  • Outstanding process and project management skills, including coordinating activities across multiple departments
  • 7+ years of accounting experience

Expected Salary Range: $129,000 to $160,000, plus the ability to participate in Hazel’s medical, dental, vision, 401k program (with Company match), generous paid time off, complimentary membership to the gym at the Company’s Chicago headquarters, a partial work-from-home stipend, and participation in the Company’s social events and happy hours.

The range above is a good faith estimate of the base salary we expect to offer for this position. The actual salary offered may differ based upon the skills, qualifications, and experience of any particular candidate.
