Halter is hiring an

Internal Systems Engineer

Auckland, New Zealand
Full-Time
About the role

We are on the hunt for a hard-working and hungry individual to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis as our Internal IT Guru. If you enjoy digging out solutions to tricky tech problems on a daily basis, and touching almost every aspect of the business, then this role has your name on it. New starter set ups, cloud automation, hardware procurement, network design and cybersecurity are all parts of this exciting and broad role.

As our sole IT superstar, you’ll be one of the powerhouses behind the company, supporting a range of different work threads - this role truly has no limits. We’re looking for someone self-motivated who can quickly change gears and reprioritise based on what comes up throughout the day. You build rapport and foster relationships naturally, because you enjoy helping people. You set realistic expectations and can be relied on to deliver and communicate clearly.

Halter is a fast-paced environment and no two days are ever the same. We’re looking for an exceptional person – someone with initiative, slick organisational skills, and high ownership. You will need strong prioritisation skills and the inherent ability to multi-task a busy multi-office workload.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a passion for hard work (and the fun that comes with it), so if you’re up for a challenge and keen to work in the engine of one of NZ’s fasting growing start-ups, get in touch!

What your day could look like

  • Getting our new starters up and running on all Halter systems - think owning their onboarding from start to finish with new hardware and new software
  • Ensuring Halter internal systems are ready to support international expansion
  • Proactively maintaining a strong security posture across the business
  • Ensuring rapid resolution of all critical IT support issues - no query from the team is too big or too small
  • Maintaining video conferencing systems to ensure a seamless remote experience for the team across the globe
  • Recognising trends in user patterns to identify problem areas
  • Identifying and implementing efficiency improvements in team practices, processes, and systems - the world is your oyster

What we’re looking for

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Working experience or a rich knowledge of IT systems, networks, and related technologies
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of various hardware and software
  • As a cloud-native company, all our infrastructure is Linux-based, so Linux experience is a must-have.
  • A genuine willingness to help the rest of the team solve their issues, big or small. You go out of your way to build strong interpersonal relationships with the EPIC team at Halter
  • Applicable professional qualifications, such as Oracle, or Cisco certification would be useful
  • Additionally, experience with any of the following would be ideal: Ansible, Terraform, AWS, version control, network architecture and provisioning.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or similar would be preferred but not a must-have.

Why our team loves working at Halter

  • A highly organised, great human who is passionate, hard-working and up for a challenge
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally 1-2 years
  • A genuine willingness to help the rest of the team solve their issues, big or small. You go out of your way to build strong interpersonal relationships with the EPIC team at Halter

  • Highly flexible and responsive to changing priorities, able to pivot seamlessly when circumstances demand.
  • A master of time management, a pro at ruthlessly prioritising tasks and orchestrating multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment. Think juggling many balls at once and knowing what is most important at any given moment
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of various different hardware and software
  • Experience with any of the following would be ideal: Ansible, Terraform, AWS, version control, network architecture and provisioning.
  • Applicable professional qualifications such as Oracle or Cisco certifications would be useful, but not a deal breaker
  • Someone who is ready to get stuck in and have fun while doing so
