THE POSITION
- Responsible for checking/ verifying all shipments in and out of the Sumter facility including all related tasks
- Check drivers and shipments in and out of the facility
- Direct drivers to respective locations and ensure all deliveries are weighed using the truck scale
- Review paperwork, trailers, and seals for accuracy
- Perform “Post Goods Issue” on all outbound shipments
- Check trailers in and out of and ensure integrity of the Yard Management System
- Go to trailer yard over weekend shift to verify and update Yard View
- Monitor outbound freight information through TMS (Transportation Management System) to ensure on time customer delivery and take appropriate action where necessary
- Maintain required shipping documentation
- Provide carriers with appropriate shipping documentation
- Track potential late loads to ensure on-time delivery
- Utilize basic Microsoft Office and personal computer skills, though intermediate Microsoft Office skills are preferred
- Support the Continental Business System (CBS) structure by participating in the applicable CBT meeting, reviewing and managing his/her/team performance, conducting simple problem-solving using action sheets, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities, participating in the CBT reviews, and taking ownership for presented parts of the team boards
- Follow the internal ESH work instructions in the daily work
- Demonstrate exemplary personal behavior in ESH and motivate others
- Ensure immediate notification and response, to initiate preventive measures in case of unsafe or polluting hazards
- Assist with cycle counts during slow times as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Continental is not able to offer visa support.
- Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Three or more years’ experience in warehousing operations, scheduling, or logistics
- Current Continental Sumter employee
- Transportation Management and/or Yard Management System experience
- SAP experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently from floor to shoulder height.
- Able to frequently stop, bend at waist and knees
- Able to walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time
