About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. We’re looking for a summer intern to spend 8-12 weeks with us to learn more about the technologies we use and contribute to our operational data quality initiatives.

As part of our Systems Engineering team, you will help to improve our internal systems and improve the experience of other Fivetranners. You’ll bring curiosity and technical fundamentals to investigate data quality issues, fully understand their root causes, and work with other team members to resolve them.

This is an individual contributor role based out of Fivetran’s Oakland, USA Office. The successful candidate must be able to to work with overlap with US EST and PST time zones.

Technologies You’ll Use

Salesforce, Netsuite, and BigQuery are examples of some systems you’ll interact with. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn and apply SQL as a primary means of investigating data. Having some working knowledge of software fundamentals and Java will also assist in your work.

What You’ll Do

Learn about system observability
Monitor for data quality issues
Determine the severity and impact of a given issue on our systems and/or business processes that rely on our data
Work with other team members to investigate and document root causes
Build plans to fully resolve a set of root causes

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfort with computer science fundamentals and learning more about their application
An open, collaborative mindset

Bonus Skills

One year of completed college coursework with a focus on Computer Science
Data literacy and basic knowledge of SQL
Basic proficiency in a modern programming language

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the target position and level. This range represents base salary only and does not include incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits, if applicable.
