Intern, Political Risk

The purpose of the internship program is to provide the university student with an opportunity to develop professional skills, gain practical experience, and gain exposure to Control Risks’ business and political risk analysis methodologies.

All this in a dynamic, demanding and rewarding work environment where she/he can put to practice the knowledge acquired during her/his studies and learn, while looking for solutions to real life challenges or risks facing business across Latin America.

Responsibilities:

Online Services:

  • Support the creation of political, security and ESG risk updates on relevant developments in the Brazil and Southern Cone region, and when necessary, on countries elsewhere in the region.
  • Contribute to the creation of research notes for Control Risks’ bespoke retainer services.

Customized reports and projects:

  • Undertake research for bespoke reports and projects under the direction of the Team Leader.
  • Contribute to customized risk assessments for individual clients or contributing to wider consultancy projects under the direction of the Team Leader.

Requirements

Education

  • International Relations student.

Languages

  • English and Portuguese (fluent), both spoken and written.
  • Additional Spanish a distinct advantage.

Skills

  • Knowledge, interest and understanding of political, operational and security risks in Brazil and the Southern Cone. An ability to work across Latin America, and knowledge of Argentina and/or Chile in particular, is a further asset.
  • Outstanding writing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight and often multiple deadlines.
