The International Public Affairs (IPA) Team at Edelman Global Advisory (EGA) Brussels is seeking a talented individual with a strong interest in international public and government affairs. As an intern, you will work with an experienced team to support diverse international clients and contribute to business development. We value curiosity, teamwork, excellent communication and writing skills, a keen eye for detail, a passion for geopolitics, and a desire to learn and grow in public affairs.
Join us in shaping international political and regulatory initiatives, building reputations, managing issues, and aligning globe-spanning public affairs and communications strategies for our clients.
Job Responsibilities
The specific tasks and responsibilities will depend on current priorities and client needs during your internship. However, you can expect to be involved in the following activities:
- Monitoring political and regulatory developments, identifying their impact on clients, and articulating these insights effectively;
- Conducting research and analysis on various policy issues, drafting briefings, reports, updates, and other client services;
- Assisting with communications, public affairs, and government relations activities as needed;
- Liaising with European and international institutions and organisations;
- Attending and reporting on institutional events and debates at the EU and international levels;
- Providing support to the team in all client work, from strategic advice to direct stakeholder engagement;
- Conducting policy and media research as a key part of your daily activities.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Native or native-equivalent level of English (oral and written) is essential;
- University degree in political science, public affairs, international relations, law or a related field;
- Excellent analytical and written skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – a positive, reflective approach with a self-learning attitude;
- Good knowledge of EU decision making processes and its stakeholders – previous experience working in the international organisations, consultancies, or member-based associations (internships) will be considered an advantage;
- Ability to work under pressure and on multiple assignments;
- Proactive approach, willingness to take the initiative and ownership of an assignment, and curiosity to ask questions;
- Capability to work effectively in a varied environment and within small dynamic teams;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams);
- Curiosity about geopolitics and their impact on global and regional policymaking.
- You must also have existing permission or a right to work in Belgium.
