The Cost Predictions team is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer Intern to help develop novel ML models that predict various cost values to be used by the Planning stack for informing nuanced human-like AV behavior. The intern will work closely with senior machine learning engineers on the team and on other partner teams to develop a roadmap to solve some of our most challenging problems in Prediction. The intern will have the opportunity to work on complex and open-ended problems related to creating not just a safe and comfortable AV but also one that abides by all of the subtle conventions of human driving. Right at the interface of Prediction and Planning, our team is uniquely positioned to be at the cutting edge of AV technology and this position is expected to dive right in and help us make innovative progress in the AV space.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Explore, prototype, validate, and iterate new models and algorithms
  • Support productizing and deploying solutions to self-driving vehicles
  • Invent pragmatic long term and stable software solutions to complex problems
  • Collaborate with other engineers to come up with creative solutions
  • Present results and share learnings across multiple teams

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Students pursuing BS, MS, or PhD in CS, CE or EE
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++
  • Experience using deep-learning frameworks, e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 5. Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world

  • Experience working with time series problems

The salary range for this position is $28.00 - $68.00/hour. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
