Role Purpose
Control Risks’ dedicated dispute support team supports clients in contentious situations such as board disputes, complex investigations and asset tracing. As an intern you will conduct online research across multiple jurisdictions to trace concealed assets, diligence claims, and help support the formulation of strategy for litigation, arbitration and enforcement.
This position will be based in our London office for a period of 6 months. It will involve interacting with colleagues based across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, and globally. During the 6 months, you will be trained on tools and techniques for identifying online information (OSINT), managing discreet human enquiries (HUMINT), and the broader context and legal tools available to our partners and clients.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Carrying out online research using publicly available and subscription databases. Tracing corporate structures, cash flows and identifying hidden assets
- Analysing financial statements and other disclosures to build a picture of financial health and debt position of counterparties
- Preparing high quality research for use by senior team members in compiling client ready reports
- Supporting the team on business development initiatives such as pre-meeting preparatory research, subject matter briefings, marketing material including case studies
- Identifying new sources of information to help strength our research capabilities.
Requirements
- Recent graduate with bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Preferred majors – international relations, political science, law, area studies.
- Demonstrable interest in global affairs, corruption, fraud and/or law
- Strong writing abilities in English
- Demonstrable experience in carrying out online research preferred
- Additional European, Middle Eastern or African languages preferred
