JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Learning and Careers Pathways Specialist is responsible for promoting Aspire’s mission of creating access for scholars to be college, career, and life ready by leveraging relationships within local, regional, state, and national communities to ensure students have the means, opportunity, and preparation to succeed in college and in the workplace. The Regional Learning and Careers Pathways Specialist helps to coordinate and lead the implementation and ongoing improvement of our early college pathways and other work-based learning initiatives as it aligns with an Aspire high school site’s early college programming.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Work-Based Learning
  • Collaborate with the local industry partners and pathway teachers to develop course progression pathways and work-based learning experiences aligned to industry need
  • Support with the coordination of work-based learning opportunities with external partners for established early college, career exposure, and CTE pathways
  • Promote the integration of career concepts and work-based learning opportunities into academic courses and with the school community more broadly 
  • Support the inclusion of family partnership opportunities in support of pathway implementation and enhancement
  • Provide presentations, workshops, etc. to students and families in content related to early college, career exposure, and CTE pathways

 

Pathway Programs and Operations 
  • Support with the development and execution of MOUs and partnership agreements with partner organizations as needed
  • Monitor and manage pathway data, key deliverables, and student progress
  • Develop pathway marketing materials and communication plan (pathway newsletter, pathway section on school website, social media presence, environmental print, family updates, etc.)
  • Work in collaboration with the site Academic Counseling Department to support each student’s graduation and postsecondary plan as it relates to student academic and career progress
  • Support graduating seniors in making a successful transition into their post-secondary programs and reduce summer melt.

 

Dual Enrollment:
  • Work with school counselors and administrators to ensure schools and scholars take full advantage of opportunities including those offered by various community colleges and other community-based organizations.
  • Coordinate efforts with various campus departments to guide, assist, monitor, and ensure seamless scheduling, enrollment, registration, and continuous support for dually enrolled scholars in accordance with internal policies and in compliance with government rules and regulations
  • Along with the Post-Secondary Success manager, serve as a liaison between partnering community colleges and the Aspire school staff to coordinate the scheduling of dual enrollment course offerings.

 

Additional:
  • Work in collaboration with Principal and Regional Office to achieve site and organizational goals 
  • Perform other related duties as related and assigned including but not limited to student supervision, small group student advising, etc. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to Aspire Public Schools’ mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Competencies:
  • Demonstrated commitment to students and learning 
  • Knowledge of early college programming and guided college pathways preferable (or interest in learning) 
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and interact effectively with different audiences 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Maintain accurate records  

 

Education Level:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • AA degree or equivalent work experience required

 

Minimum Experience: 
  • 3 years of experience managing and coordinating projects
  • Experience working in a school setting or classroom setting preferred
Physical requirements:
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  •  Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

 

Work authorization requirements: 
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are representative of those in a normal office, classroom/school setting which one might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
