Shift5 is seeking a full-time Integration Engineer to join our expanding team at our VA Headquarters, just minutes from Washington, DC. In this critical role, you’ll be at the forefront of deploying Shift5 products, integrating hardware and software into innovative solutions, and prototyping new capabilities to unlock value for our diverse customer base.
As the Integration Engineer, you will serve as the linchpin for integrating Shift5’s cutting-edge software and hardware components. Your cross-functional collaboration is crucial to meeting our customers' stringent requirements. Specifically, you will:
- Design, plan, execute, and thoroughly document systems integration solutions.
- Offer a comprehensive systems perspective, including an in-depth understanding of the technical relationships, dependencies, and requirements of hardware and software components.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to conceive, implement, and deliver major product releases.
- Partner with Shift5 engineers to design, test, deploy, and troubleshoot our full suite of products, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
Core responsibilities :
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of software releases across multiple platforms and customer environments.
- Establish and advocate for best design and implementation practices to deliver scalable, repeatable integration solutions.
- Architect integration strategies grounded in principles of reusability, security, scalability, and high quality.
- Communicate effectively across functional areas and foster a collaborative team environment to drive results.
- Continuously explore and incorporate new technologies and open-source solutions to enhance functionality.
- Actively participate in our agile development processes, including Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies and developments within the software engineering landscape.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of quickly learning and mastering new technologies.
Qualifications :
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with at least one major programming language, such as C/C++, Python, or Golang.
- Significant experience in the administration of Linux systems.
- Proficiency with data pipelining tools (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Airflow), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Tekton, GitHub Actions), and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Prior experience with CANbus, MIL-STD-1553, SAE J1939, ASCB, and/or ARINC-429 protocols is highly advantageous.
- US Citizenship is required.

- Base Salary: $160,000-200,000
