What is an Insurance Product Underwriting Supervisor 

Clearcover is looking for an experienced insurance professional with proven leadership skills combined with an underwriting background to join it’s fast growing team.  The Insurance Policy Underwriting Supervisor supports the Insurance Product Underwriting Manager by having the accountability to lead the operational underwriting team in daily roles and responsibilities, provide mentorship and education and enable consistent delivery of team projects and ad-hoc initiatives.

What will you do?

• Manage and are accountable for the quality and performance of the underwriting team in relation to Insurance Product and company goals..
• Challenge, motivate, mentor and develop individual underwriter skills.
• Proactively identify and solve complex underwriting issues that impact company profitability and growth.
• Serve as the first point of contact for underwriting escalated issues.
• Build relationships with and collaborate on company initiatives with Legal and Compliance, Claims, Technical Product, Product Development and Growth to ensure underwriting guidelines are being correctly interpreted and applied.
• Develop underwriting manuals and process procedures.

What will you need as an Insurance Product Underwriting Supervisor?

• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• CPCU or equivalent designation preferred.
• 7+ years of proven work experience which includes underwriting and team leadership.
• Expert knowledge of insurance data and metrics.
• Personal Lines product knowledge preferred.
• Expert skill proficiency in Excel: Intermediate, Google: Intermediate
• Strong ability to communicate effectively and to challenge the status quo
• Strong decision making and relationship building skills
• Alignment with Clearcover core values
• Must be able to lead through influence, rather than authority only. Also must be a team player and able to operate as a “player-coach.”
• Solid organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
