Instructional Design Intern

As an Instructional Design Intern, you will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the organization to support Ridgeline’s strategic learning initiatives. Under the direction of the Academics and Customer Experience SMEs, you will assist in designing and developing instructional materials and learning resources for technical and complex topics. This position is an excellent opportunity to apply instructional design theories and principles, while leveraging RI systems and tools in the learning environment.

What you will do:

  • Assist in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating enterprise-wide learning solutions to align with Ridgeline's business objectives.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to develop learning experiences that utilize sound instructional design principles and best practices.
  • Incorporate trends in learning experience design, methodologies, and technology solutions into RI learning experiences.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration to ensure shared goals are met.
  • Create a one-day face-to-face training course and a microlearning eLearning module.

Must-haves:

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in instructional design and/or experience designing engaging learning activities for adult learners.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Basic proficiency with an eLearning authoring tool such as Captivate, and experience integrating multimedia into learning experiences.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Basic proficiency with Adobe tool suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator).
  • Interest in Visual Design and experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration.
  • Eagerness to deliver content to a large audience (1000+ students).
  • A portfolio or examples of past instructional design work to showcase capabilities.

Internship Details:

  • Ridgeline's 2024 Internships commence on June 3, 2024, and extend through August.
  • Internships are predominantly situated at Ridgeline's headquarters campus in McLean, VA. However, in certain instances, remote work may be allowed.
  • Applicants must be capable of remaining stationary for 50% of the time. Occasionally, movement within the office environment may be required.
  • The role involves continuous interaction with computers and other office productivity equipment.
