We are looking for an Innovation Chemist to join our New Product Development and Innovation team. Reporting into the Senior Innovation Chemist, this role will oversee the development of colour and skincare formulations, testing, scaleup and production, sharing knowledge and providing advice to our Marketing and Product Innovation teams.

The Role
Your daily to-dos might look like this:
- Work closely with the Product Innovation team to input into the creation of product briefs, ingredient and benchmark selection and technical requirements for all new cosmetic developments
- Lead the development of new innovative formulas across skincare and cosmetics working in conjunction and co-creating with our external laboratory and supply base ensuring technical requirements are being met for all products playing an integral role from inception to launch and beyond
- Investigate, evaluate and develop new technologies and innovations to feed into our long term innovation plan
- Work closely with our suppliers and oversee the formulating and technical compliance of all new products and manage all formulation related technical aspects with our external manufacturing and troubleshoot potential issues
- Provide technical expertise and play an advisory role to ensure projects run smoothly
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and key suppliers to strengthen our innovation capabilities
- Support the brand innovation team in the development of technical product stories
- Participation and arrangement of technical accredited audits
- Set formulation QA standards with suppliers
- Identify and educate the team on new materials and ingredients
- Consistently follow competitor market analysis
- Examine new raw materials and resolve any discrepancies, ensure raw material SPEC documents, certification, and technical data sheet
Requirements
These skills will help you go far in this role:
- A scientific degree (ideally in cosmetic or pharmaceutical science)
- Demonstrable experience in formulation development or product development, regulatory affairs, ideally from a R&D lab or beauty brand background
- Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written with a high level of creativity and attention to detail
- A strong understanding of technical and testing requirements
- Speed to market and able to work in a fast paced, start-up work environment
- Results oriented, excellent ability to utilise and manage the organisation's resources to achieve goals
