Our solutions unlock the potential of Applied AI to transform the whole recovery ecosystem, from assessing damage and accelerating claims and repairs to recycling parts. They help make response to recovery up to ten times faster – even after full-scale disasters like floods and hurricanes.

Tractable has a world-class culture, backed up by our team, making us a global employer of choice!

We're a diverse team, uniting individuals of over 40 different nationalities and from varied backgrounds, with machine learning researchers and motor engineers collaborating together on a daily basis. We empower each team member to have tangible impact and grow their own scope by intentionally building a culture centred around collaboration, transparency, autonomy and continuous learning.

What you will be doing:

The Infrastructure team runs the platform on which our groundbreaking AI can do its magic.

As a team, we are responsible for building and managing our AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, as well as playing a fundamental role in our overall DevEx. We strongly believe in the “You build it, you run it” mantra, and we work closely with the Engineering and Research teams to provide everything they need to deliver real value to our customers as efficiently as possible.

As owners of our own roadmap, we also get to decide how we want our platform to evolve. You will help make decisions around the architecture, services and tools we use to improve our estate, and be responsible for delivering features and improvements that have a real impact on the wider team.

A typical day can include writing Terraform templates to deploy new infrastructure, coding new plugins for our internal developer platform, building automation/CICD tooling, debugging distributed systems, exploring cost saving, monitoring and security strategies.

You will:

  • Design, build and support our AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Develop and expand our internal developer platform
  • Propose solutions and tooling to improve how we currently do things
  • Introduce and enforce best practices and standards
  • Helping shape the direction in which our infrastructure evolves

Tech Stack:

All of our environments are hosted on AWS across multiple regions and accounts where we make use of a  plethora of different services, including core items like EC2, RDS and VPC, we also help support the full gamut of AWS serverless offerings and Machine Learning services.

We take automation seriously and so everything that we do needs to be defined in code, from AWS and AzureAD to Datadog and PagerDuty, we have CICD pipelines to automatically deploy it all.

Our systems are made up of both containerised workloads in Kubernetes, and deployed onto Serverless platforms. We also build out a number of internal tools and services using Python and TypeScript as the primary language.

  • AWS
  • Kubernetes
  • Serverless
  • Terraform
  • Linux
  • Docker
  • Bash/Python/TypeScript
  • Datadog
  • Harness

What we’re looking for…

  • Around 3 years (or more) experience in Infrastructure, System Engineering, DevOps or a similar role.
  • A tenacious and results driven mindset - We are a fast paced company and our Infrastructure needs to keep up
  • Not afraid to delve deep into technologies or when debugging problems
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and Cloud architecture
  • Good knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Experience with programming languages
  • Top communication & collaboration/support skills
  • Demonstrable experience in evaluating different technologies and tools and able to discuss merits / trade-offs for their use
  • Strong ownership ability - you have owned things end to end in previous roles
