The Infection Prevention/Quality Improvement Coordinator position is responsible for the oversight and administration of the day-to-day function of the Risk, Safety and Infection Control Program. They will be expected to manage and analyze risk, patient safety, and policy development along with conducting audits. In addition, they will be responsibility for managing the clinical quality improvement program and maintaining ASC accreditation requirements.
The Infection Prevention/ Quality Improvement Coordinator is expected to be self-motivated to keep current on ASC best practices. This role is expected to be a staff educator, conduct routine, and as needed audits. Solid Microsoft Office products experience is needed.
Performs duties related to Infection Control, OSHA Safety Officer, and Continuous Quality Improvement (see below).
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required, certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. State of Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification required.
- Minimum of 4 years nursing experience in an acute care hospital/ASC setting; ICU or Surgical experience required.
- Previous Quality Improvement or Infection Control experience preferred
- Willing to achieve the CAIP credential after employment and training
Responsibilities
· Has the ability to analyze data, initiate root cause analysis, conduct unbiased research, obtain facts from others, draw clinical conclusions, articulate findings in coherent delivery and compose written summaries.
· Understands and enforces requirements for disinfection and sterilization of Ambulatory Surgery Center equipment.
· Participates in the development of policies regarding infection control procedures such as sterilization and disinfection practices.
· Provides education regarding infection control procedures and new infection control technologies to staff members.
· Participates in the development of infection control policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
· Conducts risk assessments of new procedures or equipment to ensure safety standards are met.
· Participates in the development of new infection control programs and practices as needed
· Participates and leads Quality Improvement studies and activities.
· Works with the Ambulatory Surgery Center Medical Director regarding ongoing professional review of the medical staff.
· Has the ability to self-direct, manage time efficiently, complete monthly data entry, and complete monthly reports in a timely manner.
· The Infection Prevention/Risk and Safety Coordinator facilitates oversight of the risk management activities, infection control, clinical education, and oversight of credentialing within the Waukee Ambulatory Surgery Center.
