The site spans 1,200+ acres and the first phase of development will have 4.7 million square feet of floor space consisting of a cluster of semiconductor manufacturing buildings such as a fab, office, parking garage, central utility building, and special utility supply facilities. The Taylor facility will boost the production of semiconductor solutions that will power next-generation technologies in areas like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance computing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:

Guided by a belief in extensive data analysis and a commitment to collaborative global relationships, the Water Treatment and Reclamation (WTR) team is responsible for providing continuous, safe and high quality utilities to our Semiconductor factory (Fab). At our water and wastewater plants on the Samsung Semiconductor campus in Taylor, Texas, our Operations teams’ drive for sustainability and operational excellence is balanced by our need to adopt tomorrow’s technologies to ensure plant resilience, environmental stewardship, and the safety of our staff.

The Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Engineering team is a cohesive group of engineers focused on comprehensively managing, maintaining, supporting, and improving the industrial wastewater reclamation facility in Taylor. As a process engineer and critical team member of IWT, you will:

o Practice full ownership and accountability for wastewater transfer equipment, accepting that we function as one team, failing or succeeding together
o Maintain a safe work environment for yourself, the team and all stakeholders.
o Continually evaluate and update drain mapping tools, drain forecasting, and drain change control procedures for wastewater systems
o Coordinate operations and maintenance activities with third-party owned-and-operated industrial wastewater reclamation facility (WRF) on the Samsung Taylor site
o Manage operations and maintenance budgets for third-party owned-and-operated WRF
o Monitor and improve treatment system performance through trend analysis, field walks, reporting, and incremental operational improvements
o Research, develop, test and implement innovative projects that improve IWT system quality, reliability and/or safety
o Sustain transparent and frequent communication with the engineering supervisor (TR) and technical lead (TL) on any technical wastewater analysis, support, and supply/quality issues
o Lead and execute critical projects that support operational safety, quality, and capacity improvements
o Interface with internal customers and third party utility service provider to represent wastewater treatment objectives in support of site-wide goals.

Specific Job Duties:

• Monitor daily trends, perform equipment inspections, and coordinate with Operations and third-party utility services provider regarding work orders and process improvement projects
• Meet the needs of our operators by supporting and collaborating with the plant operations team to develop and drive process improvements
• Execute complete ownership and accountability of assigned transfer and/or treatment system scope and projects
• Proactively troubleshoot critical IWT system issues, especially those related to site drain quality
• Research and develop new innovative technologies to improve IWT quality and reliability; plan, request and implement improvements
• Support of instrumentation, maintenance, and operations groups in day-to-day tasks
• Effectively and confidently interface with the internal customers onsite and third-party utility services providers offsite
• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to share your knowledge, talent and skills
• Creation and development of structured execution plans for field improvements and repair work
• Review standard operating procedures, PLC programming changes, and other administrative tasks
• Lead facilities wide task-force teams to develop more efficient practices and processes
• Be a role model for engagement in facilities wide meetings
• Lead system-wide trend analysis and use that analysis to drive system improvements
• Complete project management of multiple projects across the IWT systems from inception through execution, including cost control and reporting

Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

Required Education and Experience
• B.S. in Engineering field
• 3+ years of experience in an Engineering environment, preferably within Operations
• Working knowledge of water or wastewater treatment technologies and processes
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows based applications

Preferred Education and Experience
• 5+ years of experience in a relevant water/wastewater operations environment
• Advanced knowledge of wastewater treatment processes (preferably industrial)
• Experience in industrial (preferably microelectronics) wastewater treatment
• Computer programming and process modeling experience a plus
