We are searching for a Industrial Designer II based in Scottsdale, AZ. Within this role, the designer will be responsible for the assistance of developing drawings, high fidelity renderings and concept models of outer designs of products, based on the input from the VP of Design, engineering and product team members.  This will include research of materials and proposing processes for manufacturing.  The design scope information provided may include user related research feedback.

Essential Functions: 

  • Overall product design concepts based on initial feedback/PRD information from the Product Team
  • Conducts User Studies and compiles results and information for feedback to R&D and the Product Team
  • Front and rear panel graphics, material coverings/finishes, componentry and concept design for guitar amplifiers, speakers and Electronics products, Accessories or Guitar componentry which require similar information. This will be done under the direction of Product Marketing, Engineering, and the VP of Design who will provide logical mechanical information via the mechanical engineering team.
  • Works with engineers and Product Marketing on new projects for any conceptual design work including ergonomics, material or process issues required to complete the product design.
  • Complete graphic renderings to be used for presentation to Marketing for a new product design.
  • Assist graphic designer and technical writer with any overflow of work required.
  • Minor interaction with vendors who provide a variety of different materials required to complete the cosmetic aspects of a product design.
  • Must be an open minded, self-motivated team player.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player with people from different organizations in the company.
  • Good design presentation skills.
  • Some Knowledge with the selection of materials suitable for consumer product use.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in Industrial Design
  • Macintosh/PC based: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Freehand, Solidworks, InDesign, Word, Keyshot Rendering
  • Manual artwork skills: Good sketching skills, color as well as experience with Cintiq screen
  • Modeling (prototype) skills
  • Communication Skills (Interaction w/ others – Marketing/Engineering)
  • Creativity
