Indirect Sourcing Specialist

Primary Function of Position

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist for Product Operations will serve as a global sourcing specialist for Intuitive’s Clinical Development, Engineering Services/Prototypes, and MRO projects. This role will provide a significant contribution to Intuitive’s global product development, manufacturing, and delivery plans. The ideal candidate will provide the leadership, strategy, and the appropriate level of tactical execution to manage spend within these categories. This team member will work closely with the production, product engineering and clinical operations teams to execute and support sourcing strategies that drive significant value and impact for Intuitive’s operations.

Collaboration with research & development, manufacturing, finance & business stakeholders are necessary to succeed in this role.  Excellent project management and communications will also be key in this role as this person will be interacting with many Intuitive employees, departments and suppliers to facilitate cross-functional sourcing activities and support global company-wide initiatives.

Essential Job Duties

Drive Strategic Sourcing and RFP Process Execution

  • Develop RFPs, create complex bidding spreadsheets and supplier selection scorecards
  • Create and manage sourcing project timelines while serving as a project manager throughout the sourcing process
  • Manage RFP or sourcing process with minimal support, start-to-finish, for simple-to-medium complexity projects (to include market research, RFP development, and management of communications, stakeholder involvement, etc.)
  • Evaluate bid responses (quantitatively and qualitatively)
  • Facilitate the development of award scenarios and recommendations for stakeholder evaluation, consideration and decision-making
  • Collaborate with internal customers to drive establishment and execution of renewals and program strategy

Contract Negotiation, Development and Management

  • Review contracts and spend to assess potential sourcing opportunities
  • Meet with internal business owners & legal to follow-up on concerns relating to RFPs / sourcing projects
  • Provide guidance on contract term negotiations through collaborative approach with facilities and construction stakeholders.
  • Partner with legal /contracts team to negotiate best in class contract terms

Ad-Hoc Analysis and Support

  • Collaborate with internal customers to create a preferred global supplier list for key spend categories/trades/scopes
  • Manage strategic supplier performance and compliance with associated SLAs
  • Assist the Global Category Leader of Product Operations in tracking and updating KPIs
  • Support and identify process improvements
  • Develop and deliver presentations for internal stakeholder communications / updates, also review other team members’ deliverables.
  • Lead total cost of ownership and cost modeling when appropriate
  • Partner with internal customers to develop a sourcing category strategy and project pipeline from 1-2 years out

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with minimum 2 years in a procurement role. Experience sourcing R&D (Clinical Trials, Engineering Services, Prototyping) and MRO Services/Equipment spend categories is preferred.
  • Superior analytical ability to quickly gather facts, perform root cause analysis and draw conclusions
  • Excellent conceptual thinking skills with adeptness to drive others through ambiguous and/or complex issues.
  • Extensive experience managing change across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Established negotiation skills to influence senior leadership on strategic direction, business case value proposition and sourcing recommendations.
  • Excellent contract/vendor negotiation preparation and execution skills to achieve desired outcomes from supplier negotiations.
  • Ability to build consensus and act as a self-directed arbiter to achieve sourcing outcomes that meet business requirements without sacrificing service or increasing risk/cost
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently and knowledge of business requirement and project management principles and methodology
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with team members and stakeholders including senior management
  • Must have very close attention to details and the drive to get things right with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to listen, understand, and communicate with employees at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships within Intuitive.
  • This role is expected to be onsite 3x a week in our Peachtree Corners, GA office.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree Required (in finance, business, supply chain, engineering, or equivalent degrees)
