About the role:
This dual role consists of two main responsibilities: 1) leading our Indirect Procurement team; and 2) directly managing our largest Indirect Procurement category: Logistics. As a team leader you will manage goals, objectives, and performance; as well as provide mentorship and coordination to the team; while maintaining general oversight of the Indirect Procurement spend and categories. As a Logistics category manager you will enhance total value creation from our freight and logistics partners both regional and global by leading innovation and optimization initiatives; while managing the strategic direction of this critical category. As part of these two main responsibilities; you will work closely with both business stakeholders as well as the extended Procurement community to build and execute multi-year roadmaps to transform our Indirect Procurement team into a value creation engine. The position will be located in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands, reporting to the head of Procurement in EMENA
Critical Objectives:
The Indirect Procurement Lead and Logistics Manager for EMENA will play a pivotal role in developing and executing procurement strategies to leverage spend, optimize costs, streamline processes, reduce risks, and ensure the timely and efficient sourcing of goods and services across our operations. This individual will establish strong supplier relationships, and implement best practices to support the company's objectives around value creation while driving continuous improvement. As a team leader; you will be responsible for employee management and development; as well as having overall accountability for the performance of our Indirect Procurement spend. Additionally, you will play a key role in integrating our EMENA Indirect Procurement team into the quickly evolving Global Indirect Procurement Community across Avery Dennison.
Regional Leadership:

Develop and implement a comprehensive Indirect Procurement strategy for the EMENA region, aligned with global Procurement transformational goals and objectives.

Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and development to our team of Indirect Procurement category managers - while modeling and promoting Avery Dennison’s Leadership Principles, Code of Conduct, as well as our Sustainability and DE&I philosophy.

Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the Indirect Procurement team.

Oversee the development and implementation of category strategies, contract negotiations, compliance to policies, risk mitigation, costs savings, and value creation for various Indirect Procurement Categories (e.g. Logistics, MRO & Facilities, Packaging, Professional Services, Marketing, IT, HR, Finance, and Utilities).

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across different functions while effectively communicating Indirect Procurement strategies, initiatives, and performance to those stakeholders regionally and globally.

Oversee performance management of Indirect Procurement in the region identifying areas of improvement and coordinating corrective actions implementation.
Logistics Category Management:

Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for all Logistics subcategories (e.g. road / ocean / air freight, warehousing, and 3PL).

Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify industry trends, best practices, and potential sourcing opportunities.

Define category KPIs and develop measurement strategies to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

Lead RFx (RFI, RFP, RFQ) processes and negotiate contracts with freight forwarders, carriers, 3PL providers, and other logistics suppliers.

Leverage sourcing best practices, including competitive bidding and should-cost modeling, to achieve optimal pricing and service levels.

Develop and manage strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.

Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular business reviews, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions in the Logistics space in order to identify and implement opportunities for automation and digitalization within the category.
Requirements and Prior Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations or Engineering) required, Master's degree a plus.
- 7+ years work experience in Indirect Procurement. Additional experience in Logistics, Supply Chain management is a plus.
- Team lead / management experience.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful Indirect Procurement strategies.
- Experience managing complex indirect spend categories across multiple countries and business units with a demonstrated ability to oversee complex sourcing transactions, negotiate effectively, and handle contractual responsibilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-starter, able to drive projects to conclusion and work effectively with a variety of people at various levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to manage/lead multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
- Proficient in Google workspace platform and tools. Ariba proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally. (Travel will vary, estimated 5-20%).
- Excellent fluency in English. Multilingual skills are a plus (French / German).
