About the Role

A Singapore-based publishing project seeks an accomplished illustrator for an adult graphic novel adaptation of a remarkable motorcycle journey across 35 countries. The narrative combines real-world adventure with philosophical reflection, documenting a 55,000-kilometer expedition from France to Singapore. The initial engagement will begin with sample strips to ensure stylistic alignment before proceeding with the complete novel.

Responsibilities

• Create sample strips initially to demonstrate style compatibility
• Translate real locations, encounters, and experiences into visually compelling scenes
• Develop a consistent visual representation of the protagonist and various characters encountered
• Illustrate diverse landscapes, urban environments, and cultural settings across multiple countries
• Capture both the physical journey and the internal, philosophical aspects of the narrative
• Create realistic, mature artwork that reflects the serious nature of the content

Requirements

• Professional portfolio demonstrating expertise in realistic, adult-oriented graphic novel illustration
• Strong ability to illustrate diverse geographical settings, architecture, and vehicles (particularly motorcycles)
• Proven experience in creating dynamic sequential art that maintains realism
• Capability to blend action sequences with contemplative, philosophical moments
• Proficiency in color illustration with a sophisticated palette
• Understanding of graphic novel pacing and layout principles
